How Health Sites Can Reach Youth

Sometimes, it gets so disappointing that after searching through the web for some reliable health advice online you couldn’t find any. More so, you have been spending hours or even days but still only a so-so of information are found.

In one of the surveys, young people want reliable, easily understood health advice online. In one of the surveys conducted, it revealed the following:

Search Results Matter. More than half of the survey-takers revealed that they search through Google, WebMD and Wikipedia for health information. For them, search results are paramount in determining where thy would end up for health advice, among many other aspects of it.

Youth want Information Driven by Peers, Overseen by Professionals. Very true, this is what we call informal information. And in most cases, this has been the deciding factor for many people to buy a certain product. A website or information that possesses the ability to organize this informal source of information is and will always be advantageous.

Information should be Comprehensive, yet easily Digestible, Fun, and Interactive. In essence, this means that a source of information must understand that the youth are no doctors who could understand technical terms. It must be understandable to everyone who has the power to gain access to it. It must also be interactive, providing everyone the chance to discuss and share.

Anonymity can be liberating, but only in a Safe Online Place. In the online community, a lot of stories have been shared about creating negative response, which are often called cyber-bullying through anonymity. The most important thing about this is this needs to be moderated by administrators. Site owners must keep the hater out of the discussion place.

To sum everything up, this means that a site owner must spend a considerable amount of time to optimize your site for search engines. However, they must also need to go beyond expecting young people to find your site and work on creative ways of pushing out the resources. You have to go viral (no health pun intended) and look at creating applications, widgets, or videos to spread your message.
